How to Play Russian Checkers (Shashki)

Your goal is to capture all of your opponent's pieces or block them so they have no legal moves.

Movement

Standard Pieces: Move one step diagonally forward to an empty square.
Kings: Can move any number of empty squares diagonally in any direction (forwards or backwards).

Capturing

Mandatory Captures: If you can make a capture, you must. You can capture by jumping over an opponent's piece to the empty square beyond it. You can capture diagonally forwards and backwards.
Multi-Jumps: If, after a jump, you are in a position to make another capture, you must continue jumping with the same piece until no more captures are possible.
Becoming a King: A piece becomes a king when it reaches the farthest row on the board. If it reaches the last row as part of a capture, it becomes a king and must continue jumping (as a king) if possible on the same turn.
